What is Outstanding Directions?

Outstanding Directions is a simple tool that shows you what you need to do to improve career guidance for your organisation. Once you rate where you are, it gives you advice on how to improve and the means to get you there.

Who is it for?

Outstanding Directions is for any organisation that delivers career guidance to young people and is particularly useful for schools and colleges.

Why use it?

Outstanding Directions is a free, powerful tool, that simplifies a difficult task. It maps where you are, charts your progress and navigates a course to help you improve career guidance. It helps create a career guidance strategy and produce supporting evidence.  Designed by experienced career guidance experts, it is based upon the Ofsted report “Going in the right direction?”, the subsequent DfE Statutory Guidance on careers guidance and the latest Ofsted School Inspection Handbook.

For help getting started with Outstanding Directions please view our Quick-Start Guide and Structure Map which are available from the Getting Started section.
